Art In Bloom

During the Year 9 and 10 GCSE Art students’ visit to the Royal Kew Botanical Gardens in September, the aim of the trip was to conduct a variety of detailed observational drawings in their sketchbooks, which links to their ‘close-up’ project. Additionally, they were told to take a series of photographs looking at plants and unusual flowers, which they could then bring back to the classroom for investigation and exploration using various art and photographic materials.

Kew is a superb place that really encourages young people to engage with their environment and this fits well with the school’s ‘WE CARE’ environmental initiative that has been ever-present in our ethos and the teaching curriculum.
