Launch Day At Watford FC

Posted on: 08/10/2019

Last week, a small group of our Year 9 students were invited by Premier League Inspires to attend a Launch Day event at Watford Football Club. Premier League inspires is a curriculum-based programme which focuses on improving confidence, developing skills, gaining knowledge and creating a positive attitude within young people. The programme will run across the academic year with a mixture of stadium-based events and in-school sessions.

The launch day was the first stadium-based event and what a day it was. In the morning, the students were taken on a tour of the stadium and shown the various hospitality areas, got to sit in the dugout where the managers and substitute players sit, had access to the changing rooms and, of course, got to see the club’s £1.2 million pitch - the club’s pride and joy. Our students learnt that Watford FC isn’t just a stadium, it’s so much more.

After lunch, the students took part in a team-building exercise in which they had to work together to design a new kit for the club, and they also held a press conference in the lavish conference room.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their day at Watford FC and are looking forward to their first workshop, at which they will be working behind the turnstiles.
