Business Studies
Subject Overview
Business Studies is an interesting, relevant and popular subject at Hatch End High School. Business Studies may be chosen as an option for GCSE and many students continue the subject into A-Level and at University. We also offer a vocational BTEC Business at Level 2, KS4 and will be introducing the BTEC Level 3 Diploma at KS5 from September 2012. Students’ examination results in Business Studies have been above the national average for many years and we endeavour to continue this trend.

Extra-Curricular/Enrichment
The Business Studies Department organises an annual trip to the Coca Cola factory where students have the opportunity to learn about Marketing, Production or Human Resources in a real life setting. We also invite guest speakers from local businesses to deliver talks on their role and expertise within business. In addition, students in Year 11 are encouraged to join the ‘Student Investor Challenge’, which is an approved national on-line trading competition that keeps students inspired and motivated. Our Year 12 students are encouraged to participate in Young Enterprise which gives them the opportunity to set up and run a company and compete with other schools at a local, regional and national level giving them team-working, presentation and entrepreneurial skills along the way. Students are also encouraged to take part in other business competitions such as ‘The Subway Challenge’.
