School Admission Process
School admission process is detailed below:
Harrow is part of the Pan-London Co-ordinated Admissions System. All parents who are resident in Harrow can name up to six different schools that they want to apply for including any out of borough schools on Harrow’s common application form. Preferences will need to be ranked in order of priority (this is important as only one offer will be made and this will be from the highest ranked school able to make an offer).
All the councils taking part in the Pan-London Co-ordinated Admissions System will then use a computerised system to pass on details of applications for schools in other areas and to co-ordinate the offer of places to make sure that nobody gets offered more than one school place. Each admission authority will work out how well you qualify for each school using the admission rules. If you qualify for a place in more than one school, you will be offered the one you gave the highest ranking. The order of preference will remain confidential between you and Harrow Council. Harrow will let other councils know the order of preference so that they can determine which school you have ranked highest in cases where your child is eligible for a place at more than one school in that council’s area.
From September 2010 the link school arrangements are no longer applied.
Places will be allocated as follows:
- Looked After Children
- Agreed medical claims for pupil and/or parent(s)
- Siblings attending the high school at the same time (excluding sixth form students)
-
Distance from home to school, measured in a straight line to the closest official school gate as agreed by the school.
