On 25th April, a small group of girls from Years 9 & 10 attended an ‘Airbus Open day’ at Imperial College, department of Aeronautics. The day started with short talks from the Head of Aeronautics and a member from the Airbus team. This session gave the girls an insight into a career in Aerospace, the increasing number of women who are choosing a career in Engineering and making a mark on the Aerospace industry.

They had an opportunity to meet research scientists who are working with cutting edge technology in space travel. The girls worked in teams to look at the stability and trimmability of aircraft. They also made a model of the Mars Rover racer, competing with teams from other schools, and the Airbus Engineers were very impressed by their design. The day ended with a ride on a flight simulator.
