Year 9 & 10 Art & Photography Trip to Kew Gardens

On Thursday 3rd October, over 60 students visited Kew Gardens as part of their GCSE Art & Photography course. They spent the day taking as many close-up pictures of a variety of plants and cacti as possible in response to, amongst others, the artists Georgia O’Keeffe and Karl Blossfeldt.

In a week full of rain, we were extremely lucky that at stages we had blue skies and sunshine! Students kept a look out for water dragons and fish whilst admiring Chihuly’s fantastic glass sculptures. A very busy and productive day.

6th Form Trip to the National Portrait Gallery

On Monday 7th October, our 6th Form Art students visited the National Portrait Gallery to see the BP Portrait Award. Although many didn’t agree with the judges choice of 1st prize, students were able to see a variety of different techniques employed by artists. Our students will now be using what they have seen to inspire them in their own work.
