"We are delighted with our GCSE and BTEC examination results this Summer. Despite educational disruption during their time in the lower school owing to the pandemic, we are immensely proud of our young people. They deserve our hearty congratulations, as do their teachers and all the staff and parents/carers who have supported them over many years."

Diya added: "I have had some amazing teachers who have supported me during my time at Hatch End and they pushed me to get the very best grades." Diya was a school prefect and played a leading role in supporting some of our younger, less confident students with their reading.

Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Headteacher, Mr Richards, said:

“We are delighted that once again so many of our students have progressed on to top universities and courses, for example, Thiviyuhan will attend Cambridge to study Medicine, as well as Chelsie, Maria and Krisha to UCL to study Pharmacology, Astrophysics and Arts & Sciences respectively.

As in past years, more than double the national average number of students are leaving us to join top Russell Group universities, but we also have students such as Sahib leaving us to join top apprenticeship programmes with the likes of British Airways.

The quality of students’ results and their final destinations is a testament to their own hard work and co-operation with staff, as well as the skilled guidance and encouragement of their teachers, tutors, and parents, all of which we are most grateful for and have contributed to these excellent outcomes."

Thiviyuhan Vivihanantharajah was overjoyed to receive 2 A* grades in Biology and Chemistry and 2 A grades in Mathematics and Physics and will now read Medicine at Cambridge University. Thiviyuhan said:

“I came to the UK in 2020 from Sri Lanka, where I had studied GCSE equivalent qualifications. I found it challenging to settle into the UK curriculum because of the pandemic and the different curriculum in the UK, however my teachers at HEHS really helped me by providing past papers, feedback, and intervention opportunities. During my 2 years I have received a lot of encouragement, support and assistance from HEHS and I am grateful for opportunities such as enabling my course choices, which have helped me to fulfil my dream of studying Medicine at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.”
