OUR VISION
Psychology enables students to understand why humans do extraordinary and strange things. As a Science, it is a study of the human condition. This incorporates human behaviour and mind. At Hatch End High School, students will become equipped with research skills that will enable them to understand how the field has developed into the fascinating discipline that it is. They will study well-known experiments, as well as some lesser-known aspects of psychological research. All of this will allow students to gain a rich and detailed understanding of the world around them; the aim being they will become real stakeholders of the future.
Whilst at Hatch End High School, students will be supported to engage with real world issues as they see how Psychology can be used to help understand, explain, predict, and solve human behaviour. From the Stanford Prison Experiment, to studies of how and why children become attached to their parents, the subject matter is diverse.

Enrichment
We offer a whole host of enrichment and intervention activities to support learning at Hatch End High School. These include trips to venues in London such as Body Worlds and the Freud Museum. Students will also be given the opportunity to meet a range of Psychologists including Philip Zimbardo, the architect of the famous Stanford Prison Experiment. Students are also given the opportunity to conduct experiments that they have devised and come to conclusions based on their findings.
