We strive continuously to ensure that our students have the best educational experience. To this end we have an exciting strategy to transform our facilities by 2020.
Refurbishment of Specialist Classrooms
We have already successfully secured over £7m of Government grant for the refurbishment of our specialist classrooms, the work has been phased so as to minimise any impact on students and staff.
We are proud of our Great Hall, the largest theatre space in Harrow. Currently we have an exciting refurbishment programme underway to deliver enhanced facilities including new seating, new lighting and sound system, cinema screen and projection and full internal refurbishment.
Brand New Teaching Block
Most significantly we are delighted to have been selected for a multi-million pound partial rebuild through the Government’s Priority School Building Programme. The new two storey block will deliver modern classrooms and a start of the art library.
The feasibility stage is now complete and we are pleased to confirm that Kier, who has experience of successfully delivering new schools in the local area, has been selected to build the new block.
It is proposed to undertake the project in 3 phases:
- Phase 1 - Spring 2018
Construction of the new building starts on the back field. The location means the works can be undertaken without the need for temporary accommodation so will have minimal impact on the running of the school.
- Phase 2 - Spring 2019
Move into the new block and demolition of the old accommodation.
- Phase 3 - Autumn 2019
The 2019/20 academic year will see the works completed. The demolition of the old block frees up acres of open space to extend and enhance our outdoor sports facilities, including new football pitches and tennis courts.
We are about to embark on the detailed planning application and will welcome students, staff and stakeholders to get involved.
