Working at Hatch End High School
Headteacher's Welcome to Candidates
Hatch End High School is a high performing, innovative Academy in Harrow with Arts College status and a large and a very successful Sixth Form. We are extremely proud of our diverse and multi-ethnic cohort and outstanding reputation for Inclusion. Standards and progress are high but we are never complacent.
Our school ethos, We CARE: Co-operation, Ambition, Respect, Excellence, underpins everything we do. Please click on the links for more information on our school ethos and to view our school prospectus.
Hatch End High School converted to Academy Status in 2011. We work closely with the other Academies and High Schools in Harrow and are proud of our collaborative approach to school improvement. Over the years as a group, we have been successful in opening our Sixth Form provision; The Jubilee Academy, an alternative provision free school for vulnerable students and most recently, Pinner High School, an additional secondary school to meet the growth of student numbers in Harrow and a new inclusive Primary School called Harrow View. Our Sixth Form is especially popular, attracting the majority of our own eligible Year 11 students, as well as many students each year from other schools, all of whom settle in remarkably quickly and strike up friendships with our existing students. Currently our Sixth Form comprises 270 students.
Ofsted, who visited the School in September 2013, graded Hatch End High School as 'Good' across all areas. Our drive is to achieve outstanding school status and our progress on this journey has been evidenced with our sustained improvement in examination results. At both GCSE and A Level, we are consistently in the highest performing schools nationally for the progress students make. Hatch End High School has extensive experience in Initial Teacher Training being the first school in Harrow to be welcomed onto the nationally renowned Teach First programme. Every year we welcome a cohort of the highest calibre University Graduates to train across many different subjects in our outstanding curriculum. More recently we have also played a key role in the School Direct Programme (click here) as part of the Harrow Collegiate Teaching School Alliance. Our training does not stop at the early stages and we believe passionately in the power of continuing professional development to extend and enrich all our teaching and associate staff members’ individual careers.
Hatch End High School provides a happy, safe and calm learning environment. We have an excellent, well-qualified, enthusiastic and stable staff. Operating on a foundation of traditional values, Hatch End High School is an institution that welcomes change and regards itself as being at the forefront of development. Many staff have stayed for years, testament to the strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support but we recognise the importance of balancing this with welcoming new, equally enthusiastic, staff to ensure we grow as a professional community.
We encourage all prospective candidates to come and visit us to appreciate our very special working environment and we very much look forward to meeting you.
