Hatch End High School’s Debate Mate Success

After a successful first round of debating, Hatch End High School’s Debate Mate teams managed to win a further 4 out of 6 debates in the second round of the Urban Debate League on Tuesday, 28th February. Topics discussed included whether the UK Government should focus on charity at home, rather than giving to abroad, and whether Celebrities should get harsher punishments for crimes. All teams argued their cases incredibly well and were commended for the structure and cohesiveness of their debates.

We are particularly proud of our ‘novice team’ of Year 7s and 8s who we hope will continue debating in their other years at our school. Fingers crossed that our debates will win us a place in the next round! Well done all.
