INSPIRE Maths Trip to Legoland

Posted on: 18/10/2021

A cohort of top performing students in Year 11 at Hatch End High School have been participating in the Inspire Programme run by St John’s College, University of Oxford since 2019. Through the St John’s Inspire Programme, we want to encourage all pupils with exceptional promise to aim high, to stretch themselves academically and to be confident in making well-rounded applications to excellent universities, such as Oxford. The programme is a series of events, visits, workshops, after-school clubs and study days at Oxford University.

On Friday 15th October, Inspire Club took a day trip to Legoland, which was part of the programme. The students took part in the Lego SPIKE Prime Workshop, which brought Computing and STEAM learning to life outside of the classroom. Students worked together as team to complete a series of mat-based challenges using SPIKE Prime robots.

Year 11 student Ashritha said about the Legoland Trip:

I had a great time at Legoland. We built robots out of Lego bricks and proceeded to programme them to move, light up and make funny noises! It was an enchanting experience to learn in Legoland because they made learning creative and fun.

I would like to thank the teachers Dr Liang and Ms Shah for taking their time to create this wonderful day.
