Sixth Form Mental Health Training Course 2023Over three days last week, Hatch End High School Sixth Form students undertook a whole day of training to become Youth Mental Health First Aiders for our school.

Students were trained by Lisa from the Molly Rose Foundation, with training including knowing the five steps to support using 'ALGEE':

- Approach the person, assess and assist with any crisis
- Listen and communicate in a non-judgemental way
- Give support and information
- Encourage the young person to get appropriate professional help
- Encourage other support

The experience was really thought inspiring and interesting. We got to learn about real world scenarios as well as the ALGEE method, which is used to help and guide individuals to support. We also learnt about the brain and why some young people may be less mature and the different chemicals involved in the stage of adolescence.

Tilak, Year 12.

A huge well done to all of our students that participated.
