Weald Rise
A sample of our collaborative projects with Weald Rise Primary School includes:
Numeracy: We delivered a unique workshop to Year 4 pupils combining music and numeracy building confidence and knowledge of times tables – using a creative approach – music was used to work on the seven times table and dance to become more comfortable and confident with numbers.
History: 60 Year 5 pupils took part in a unique creative arts project at our school and completed two workshops on ‘The Battle of Britain’ and ‘The First Trains in Britain’. Parents/carers were invited to watch part of the practical work the children completed during the day in our Great Hall, complete with lighting, sound and special effects.
Creative Arts: Our Art Department wrote, designed and prepared a series of lessons for all year groups across the Key Stages to facilitate a series of art installations to be displayed in the new build at Weald Rise.
Education: Our Sixth Form students volunteered as Teaching Assistants throughout the 2016/17 academic year.
Performance: Up to 60 St Johns pupils attended the matinee performance of our annual school production.
Arts Days: We have also run a series of workshops through ARTS DAYS, relating the theme of the school production to literacy and numeracy and delivered workshops in a creative manner to boost interest, knowledge and self-confidence.
"Ms Dunford, Deputy Head, and her team were fantastic. They exuded positivity and were great with the Year 4's here at Weald Rise. The pupil's loved coming up with their own dance moves as well as learning the 7-times tables through song. Thank you!" - Phase Leader, Weald Rise Primary School.
