Uniform
Please check the information below and make sure you are buying the correct uniform for your child. Uniform items must be plain, without accessories, logos, decoration or any other colours.
All items worn or brought to school must be clearly labelled with the student’s first and last name on.
If a student is not wearing the correct uniform, they can be refused entry to the school.

Hatch End High School runs a PRE-LOVED Uniform Shop. Items are free of charge; however, stock and sizes are limited. If you would like to access this, please email Ms D Banfield on dbanfield@hatchend.harrow.sch.uk to arrange a suitable time to visit.
Years 7, 8, 9, and 10 - The following applies to these year groups and is not gender-specific.
TROUSERS: Plain matt black, tailored, regular fit (no denim or jeans style)
SKIRT: Plain matt black, knee length Pleated or A-line (no Lycra). Longer skirts can be worn for religious reasons.
POLO SHIRT: Polo shirt with school logo and Hatch End High School written in year colour.
KNITWEAR: Black V-necked jumper with School Logo/Badge and Year Strip Trim or
TANK TOP: Black with school logo and Year Strip Trim or
CARDIGAN: Black with school logo and Year strip trim. with School Logo and Year Strip Trim- this is only on list for the next academic year. From September 2025 – we will only have Black V-necked jumper with School Logo/Badge and Year Strip trip on the list. NO Long cardigans in school please.
COAT: Suitable for school. To be removed in class (no leather, suede, denim, hoodies, sweatshirts, or sports tops).
HAT: Plain black woollen hat to be worn outside the building during cold weather or plain black baseball cap to be worn outside the building. No balaclavas/skin masks. The school reserves the right to make the final decision regarding temperature. Plain black Durags are permitted.
HIJAB, TURBAN, PATKA: Plain matt black or white - NO sequins, lace or patterns.
SHOES: Plain black leather shoes or shoes, which can be cleaned, which can provide adequate protection and support. (NO casuals, fabric canvas, air forces, trainers, pumps, high heels, boots, coloured laces or coloured stitching).
SOCKS or TIGHTS: Plain black.
BELTS: Must be strictly functional - plain black leather/canvas with no over-sized or sharp buckles.
JEWELLERY and HAIR: Earrings - one pair of studs allowed one in each ear – these can be plain silver or gold or diamanté – NO HOOPS/RINGS. A watch. A single necklace or bracelet may be worn for religious reasons. One single stud can be worn in the nose, but no nose rings. No other body jewellery, hair dyes, coloured hair extensions or tattoos. Hair should not be “extreme”, not too short (no. 2 is the minimum accepted cut) - artwork/patternisation on the scalp or eyebrows is not allowed.
MAKE-UP and NAILS: Any make-up worn must be discrete and no false eyelashes. False nails can be worn if they are short and of a neutral colour, but if the school deems the length or shape of the nails to be inappropriate or a health and safety risk, a student may be asked to go home to rectify this issue.
PE KIT
- Red polo shirt (with school logo)
- Black sweatshirt (round neck not hoody, plain, with no logos)
- Black Airtex design Shorts (plain, with no logos)
- Black Jogging Bottoms (plain, with no logos) or Black School Leggings for girls only (and only available from uniform supplier - no logos)
- Sports Socks
- Trainers (students need to change into alternative footwear for PE)
- Gum shield (hockey and rugby both boys and girls)
- Shin pads, optional (hockey and football both boys and girls)
- Football boots (optional)
- Hairband for hair below shoulder length
Other Equipment
- Clear pencil cases should be fully equipped each day with: 2 black pens, 2 green pens, 2 pencils, 1 highlighter, 1 rubber and 1 ruler.
- Lanyards should be worn at all times on school site.
- A clearly named robust mobile phone case for protection and identification when handing in mobile phone at school daily.
