We are looking to appoint a full time Mentor to provide 1:1 and group support to our students. You will specialise in providing personalised support to students struggling with school attendance due to anxiety, emotional distress, or other complex needs. You will support all students to overcome barriers to learning, fostering trust and positive relationships to encourage re-engagement with school or lessons.
You will develop and implement personalised EBSA support plans, creating a nurturing environment for students with school anxiety, collaborating with families to build trust and support re-engagement, ensuring students’ wellbeing and academic success. A key part of your work will be delivering tailored interventions – 1:1 support, small group work, and restorative practices to break down barriers to learning. You will be part of our team of mentors and will also work closely with the SENDCO, and Senior Leadership to ensure a holistic, team approach. This is a crucial role for our young people, and we are looking for a compassionate, organised, calm, dedicated, flexible and experienced mentor.
The successful applicant will:
- have a compassionate, relational approach to working with students who struggle with attendance;
- have experience of working in a school or similar environment with school refusal/anxiety;
- have strong communication skills and the ability to work with students, families, and external agencies;
- have the highest expectations of students;
- high levels of empathy, patience, and resilience – ready to work with vulnerable students.;
- have the ability to track and manage attendance data effectively, ensuring follow-up and intervention strategies are implemented;
- be organised and efficient.
