KS4 Choices

This is an exciting time in your Hatch End High School journey. You have begun to study GCSE content in all your Core Subjects and as you approach the end of Year 9, you will be completing the KS3 curriculum and looking forward to KS4: Years 10 & 11.

To make the best choices about your KS4 study programme it is important to:
  1. Review your learning and progress in each subject
  2. Consider what courses you may wish to study in the Sixth Form and what careers may interest you and
  3. Listen to advice from your parents, teachers and Head of Year.
At Hatch End High School, we are committed to providing a curriculum which is appropriate, balanced, relevant, and above all, challenging for everyone. We will be helping all Year 9 students to plan and choose wisely, giving you as much direction and choice as possible.

It is very important to note that there are some subjects that you have to study. These form the CORE and include the following subjects: English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (either Combined Science or Separate Sciences), Religious Education, PCSHE and Core Physical Education. You will then be able to choose three subjects which will be called your Options.

Before you have to send in your MS form with your final choices (deadline: Friday 27th March 2026) you will attend a Parents/Carer’s information evening where you can ask advice from all your subject teachers and a 1:1 meeting with a member of the senior leadership team where you can talk through your choices and ask for advice. There is also lots of information and introductory videos for each subject on the school website HERE. You can also view more details in our KS4 Choices booklet below.

We are ambitious for the next phase of your Hatch End career, and we will work hard to fulfil our vision that all young people make exceptional progress and achieve outstanding outcomes so that they are able to live fulfilling and successful lives.
