Employability Sessions

Posted on: 10/07/2019

We were delighted to welcome the following 8 volunteers to HEHS last week: Mohamed Ahmed (Sainsbury’s), Ruth Jennings (Sainsbury’s), Daniel Miranda (Sainsbury’s), Julie Walters (Asda), Lucy Goodwill (Future First), Sukaina Sachedina (Sainsbury’s), Abby Chapman, an ex-student of HEHS (Booker which is part of Tesco) and Waseem Akhter (Asda). All of the volunteers were with us to share their experiences of the workplace with our Year 12 and Year 9 students and to help them make sensible choices about their futures.

Ruth Jennings from Sainsbury’s is in charge of the company’s 35 apprenticeship programmes and has recruited over a thousand apprentices into the business . Her advice to the students is that in addition to qualifications, work place behaviours are crucial: in particular COMMUNICATION, WORKING AT PACE, WORKING WITH OTHERS & RESILIENCE. Ruth also shared that she is especially impressed by candidates who clearly hold values and have a passion for something.
