Year 7 & 8 Science Club

Yeast balloonYear 7 & 8 students have been exploring different scientific concepts like Hooke’s Law, electrical circuits and respiration, by doing fun experiments this term. Pupils looked at extension and compression using laces and marshmallows, made yeast balloons, fruit cells, and cheese.

Abithan in Year 8 said:

"We made fruit cells with grapefruit, orange and lemon. We did the experiment with zinc, copper and aluminium electrodes. In my experiment aluminium and zinc combination gave the highest voltage. I would say fruit that has the highest voltage is orange (0.92V) because I have the evidence about it from my experiment."

Don't forget, Science Club is open to all Year 7 & 8 students - we look forward to seeing you there!
