We are thrilled to announce and celebrate our latest Jack Petchey Achievement Award winners at HEHS. These awards, established by the late Sir Jack Petchey CBE, honour young individuals aged 11–25 across London and Essex who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, resilience, and positive impact within their communities.

Award Winners:

Joining HEHS midway through his educational journey, Jamie has shown remarkable adaptability and determination. Having returned to the UK alone to pursue his formal education, he has faced challenges with resilience and made significant strides in both his academic and personal development.

Sahasra V

Despite significant health challenges and being Deaf, Sahasra aspires to become a lawyer. Her commitment is evident through her involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, extra work in the Hearing Impaired Provision (HIP), and mentoring younger students. She played a pivotal role in advocating for the removal of the '++' notation from students' names on SIMs and continues to work toward renaming the HIP to eliminate outdated terminology. Recently, Sahasra earned a place on SignHealth's Youth Advisory Board, a prestigious position held by only 12 Deaf young people in the UK.
