Year 11 Raising Aspirations Evening: Supporting Success Together
Posted on: 15/09/2025On Monday 15th September, we were delighted to welcome Year 11 students and their parents to our Raising Aspirations Evening – a key event designed to inform, inspire and support our students as they begin their crucial GCSE year.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the Headteacher, who shared our latest A Level and GCSE results, highlighting the excellent achievements of our students and the continued upward trajectory of our academic performance. This set the tone for the evening, emphasising what is possible with hard work, focus and support.
Following this, the Head of Year 11 outlined the key dates for the academic year and introduced a range of support strategies already in place to help students achieve their full potential. These include:
· 7+ Masterclasses to stretch and challenge high-performing students,
· Targeted Period 6 sessions for focused intervention,
· Saturday and holiday interventions to consolidate learning,
· The EXTEND programme, offering enrichment and academic development opportunities.
The second part of the evening saw parents move into smaller groups for a carousel of sessions led by the Heads of Maths, English and Science. These sessions provided valuable subject-specific advice, practical revision tips, and guidance on how parents can best support their young person’s learning journey at home.
Maha, a Year 11 prefect who attended the evening, said:
“The evening was a really good way of showing the parents that teachers are putting in the effort to help students succeed, and it was very helpful how each department had a teacher give advice on ways in which the students could really strive to do well.”
Thank you to all parents and carers who attended – your involvement plays a vital role in helping our students stay motivated and reach their goals. With a strong partnership between home and school, we are confident that this year’s Year 11 cohort will rise to the challenge and achieve great success.
