Year 8 Extend Explore Art Through Words

Posted on: 01/12/2025

Our Year 8 Extend students recently enjoyed an inspiring day at the Wallace Collection, participating in a Creative Writing Workshop designed to spark imagination and develop literary skills. Surrounded by the museum’s stunning paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts, students were challenged to respond creatively to the artworks through a series of engaging writing tasks.

The facilitators were highly impressed by the students’ rich vocabulary, originality, and ability to craft vivid narratives. Activities included writing from different perspectives, experimenting with tone and style, and creating stories inspired by the myths and mysteries hidden within the exhibits. These exercises encouraged students to develop their own voice, write for varied audiences, and consciously use language to achieve specific effects.

The workshop not only strengthened their creative writing skills but also deepened their appreciation of art as a source of inspiration. A huge thank you to the Wallace Collection team for providing such a memorable and educational opportunity.
