The Chemistry Department are pleased to report that our A Level Chemistry students took part in the prestigious competition of the 54th International Chemistry Olympiad. The Chemistry Olympiad is designed to promote and encourage students to take an interest in Chemistry and raise awareness of the role it plays in our lives.

Hatch End High School students took the opportunity to sit an exam that challenged the depths of their Chemistry knowledge, which go beyond the difficulties of a typical A Level examination paper. Over 8000 students took part in this competition to get a chance to win a possible Bronze, Silver or Gold medal.

It gives the Chemistry Department a great deal of pride to announce that a good number of our students were awarded the Bronze medal and one student achieved a Silver medal. Just to give you some statistics to understand the significance of their achievement, only 32.4% of candidates acquired a Bronze medal, 22.7% of candidates achieved a Silver medal and 8.9% a Gold medal in the country!

Bronze Winners: Shubhajan Gurung, Krish Shah, Malalay Barekzai, Abhishek Kulandaisamy Edward, Rishabh Varia, Maria Toma, Pravin Piratheeban, Rasha Abbas, Gabriela Bura, Ronan Vata and Aman Haria.

Silver Winner: Thiviyuhan Vivehanantharajah.

Well done to all students that participated - this is a fantastic achievement!
