Roundtable led by His Royal Highness Prince William
Posted on: 25/02/2026As a youth leader working with BBC Children in Need, being invited to take part in a high-level roundtable led by His Royal Highness Prince William, focusing on the barriers young Black people may face in employment, was an incredible opportunity. As a sixth-form student, having the chance to share my perspective in this space was both surreal and deeply meaningful.
The discussion explored the real challenges young Black people face when transitioning into the world of work, including access to opportunities, representation, and the confidence and support needed to succeed. It also highlighted the importance of creating fairer and more inclusive pathways.
It was empowering to be in a room where young people’s voices and lived experiences were genuinely heard, I had the chance to meet Big zuu,a british rapper and television presenter, alongside representatives from major brands such as JD Sports and DFS and senior leaders from other key organisations.
I am extremely grateful to The Ubele Initiative and BBC Children in Need for creating and supporting spaces where meaningful conversations can lead to real change."
“When young people are given a seat at the table, they do not just share experiences; they help shape better futures.”
