Young ARIAS Awards

Posted on: 05/06/2018

A new awards event has been launched to help celebrate radio and audio, created by 8 to 18-year-olds at school radio stations, or in local projects or as individuals. It opens for entries later this year, providing young audio talent with the opportunity to gain exposure and a better understanding of the radio industry. Hatch End High will be making its own nominations at this time. The winners and the institutions that support them will also be offered mentoring, tours of studios, work shadowing and advice about breaking into the industry.

Radio centre CEO Siobhan Kenny was one of those who launched the awards in Radio Audio Week, saying: “The Young ARIAS will shine a spotlight on the unique, creative young talent we have in this country. Young people have a huge amount of enthusiasm for radio, and the awards will give many of them a chance at breaking into the industry that they may not have had otherwise.”

Nominations for the Young ARIAS 2019 will open in October, and the first awards ceremony will take place in May 2019 during Radio Audio Week.

HEHS presenters have been working hard this term – not only with their radio shows but being part of the launch for the ‘Young ARIAS Awards’ (a little like the youth BAFTAs!) - great testament to the work that the Performing Arts team do with our in-house Radio Station.
