Oxford University Open Day

Posted on: 01/07/2026

On 1 July, we had the exciting opportunity to attend the Oxford University Open Day, where we were able to independently visit the colleges and departments that best matched our interests. The visit was a fantastic experience and gave real insight into what studying at Oxford is like.

Throughout the day, we explored the historic buildings, libraries, and courtyards while learning about their unique traditions and communities. We talked with tutors on the admissions process, academic courses, and student life, which provided valuable information about applying to Oxford and what is expected of prospective students. It was interesting to learn about the different colleges, a system that is unique to Oxbridge.

One of the highlights of the day was speaking with current Oxford students. They shared their experiences of university life, offered advice on preparing a strong application, and answered questions about balancing academic and having a social life. Hearing their personal stories made the experience even more inspiring.

Visiting both Queen’s College and Brasenose College allowed us to compare the different atmospheres while appreciating the welcoming environment at each. Overall, the Open Day was an enjoyable and motivating experience that has encouraged me to aim high and continue working towards my future ambitions. I am grateful for the opportunity to visit such a prestigious university and learn more about the exciting opportunities it offers.
